At Adroit North America and Aptean, we are making consistent investments in artificial intelligence to help food manufacturers turn their operational data into practical insights and actions. Aptean is also a major early adopter of Microsoft’s expanding AI infrastructure through its AppCentral AI initiative, which is designed to bring intelligent capabilities across Aptean’s portfolio of industry-specific applications.
This Microsoft architecture is important because it provides the foundation for an enterprise to connect its full set of data, applications, workflows, and business systems within one holistic AI strategy. Instead of limiting AI to a single application or isolated data source, manufacturers can combine information from Business Central, production systems, warehouse management, quality, CRM, databases, documents, external cloud platforms, and on-premises applications.
Microsoft Fabric serves as the data and analytics foundation. It can consolidate and analyze structured and unstructured information from across the enterprise. Copilot Studio and Azure AI Foundry provide the orchestration layer, allowing organizations to create agents that interpret information, coordinate workflows, and interact with multiple systems. APIs, connectors, Power Automate, Logic Apps, Azure Functions, and on-premises gateways then allow those agents to initiate controlled actions.
The appropriate architecture depends on the business requirement. When the AI capability is focused strictly within Business Central, we will use Business Central Copilot and application-native agents. These agents can understand Business Central data and assist users within familiar ERP processes.
When the requirement extends beyond Business Central, we incorporate the broader Microsoft architecture. This allows AI to analyze information across applications, coordinate processes between systems, and act through Business Central or other operational platforms.
The result is not simply an AI feature inside an ERP system. It is an enterprise intelligence framework that can analyze data in Microsoft Fabric, orchestrate decisions through AI agents, and execute governed actions across the organization. Security, role-based access, auditing, data protection, and human approvals remain embedded throughout the architecture.
